This was really just a stroll from Rylstone to the top of this little hill on the fell above it. There is a track leading onto the plateau off the B6265 about half a km SSE of Rylstone. There’s space here for just a couple of cars to park and it had all been baggsied so I parked in Rylstone where there is a big layby. To hook up with the track from here you can either walk back down the B6265 or alternatively head up the road past the church where another track heads SSE over fields to meet it. I tried both these alternative on my outward and return routes and would very strongly recommend the track over the fields rather than the road which is busy, fast, twisty, more or less vergeless and generally dangerous and horrible. |
Otherwise not much to be said. Easy walk. Nice day. Thistles and herb Robert abundantly in flower. The top is a pleasant spot with a great view and, if you fancy a seat, the smallest bench ever.
