Round the corner from the Hanging Gate pub there is space to park a few cars where the Gritstone Way crosses the road. I started by walking from here to the pub using a little footpath to cut the corner. Off to the left another path took me down into a valley then up again past High Lee Farm. Down Withenshaw Lane and another path past Longgutter Farm where I by-passed the policies walking down the neighbouring field to reach the derelict Wild Boar pub. A path SW from here went down onto another valley then up again to a road. There is a stone here inscribed “Wincle 2000 AD” and quoting Blake, “And did those feet in ancient time…” From here a track took me close my the entrances to two farms then onto a path through a nice little valley called Greasley Hollow. After this a path goes uphillpast the derelect Marekowles Farm onto the road that follows the ridge of Wincle Minn. I followed this to the A54 then the Gritstone Trail over Sutton Common all the way back to my car.
